Twig Snowflake Process Art
A simple winter process art activity that works beautifully in the classroom. Children explore texture, fine motor skills, and creativity, with no need for a “perfect” result.
Materials
● 3 sticks or twigs per child, similar length
Alternatives: popsicle sticks, wooden craft sticks, bamboo skewers for large snowflakes
● Hot glue gun, adult use only
● White or silver paint and paintbrush
● White, gray, or light blue tissue paper, cut into small squares
● Liquid glue
● Scissors
● String or yarn for hanging, optional
Preparation
Pre glue the sticks into a snowflake shape using hot glue.
Let dry fully.
Activity Steps
Invite children to paint the stick snowflake white or silver. Let dry.
Demonstrate how to crumple tissue paper to make soft textured shapes.
Children glue the tissue paper onto the snowflake frame, covering as much or as little as they choose.
Optional, attach string for hanging once dry.
